Healthy snacks for radiant skin!

Healthy snacks for radiant skin!

Let’s be honest, we all love to snack. Whether you have a sweet tooth or you are a savoury type of person, snacking is something we can’t avoid or resist. Too often our snacking habits are not beneficial to our health, resulting in consuming too many “empty calories” that lack in the nutrients which are so important in maintaining a healthy glowing skin. After all, you are what you eat. So why not try and add these healthy snacks to your plate? Your skin will thank you for it!

1. Almonds

Almonds have a high level of Vitamin E that protects our skin from sun damage, slows down the skin ageing process and improves skin moisture. They are also super easy to carry, making them a perfect quick snack.

2. Lemons

Rich in Vitamin C, lemons help push the toxins out of your body and keep your skin clear. Vitamin C also helps fight blemishes and decreases wrinkles. Try adding a few slices to some water for a perfect refreshing drink.

3. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are full of nutrients and vitamins including an important antioxidant called Lycopene, which improves skin cellular function and also has impressive anti-ageing properties. Due to having a high level of Vitamin C, tomatoes can also protect our skin from UV rays and harmful sun damage.

4. Walnuts

Did you know that consuming walnuts can help lower the risk of skin cancer according to an American Society for Nutrition study? 1 serving contains at least 10 grams of polyunsaturated fatty acids which may help in preventing skin cancer. Eat up your walnuts and stay out of direct sunlight!

5. Carrots

Carrots can make a very easy and healthy snack, just pick your dip or turn them into a juice! Rich with Beta-Carotene, carrots can slow down the skin ageing process and give your skin that perfect glow.

6. Avocados

The world's most instagrammable fruit. Avocados are rich with skin protecting antioxidants and Vitamins A and E that nourish and protect your skin. The fatty acids in avocados also help reduce inflammation of the skin, keeping it smooth and healthy. Sprinkle on a tiny pinch of salt with some lime juice for added flavour.

7.Kale

Super rich in Vitamins A, C and K, kale really boosts the health of your skin. Not only does it help the collagen production and gives you that radiant look, but it also provides a natural protection from the sun. Add it to your favourite green smoothie or simply turn it into healthy crisps!

8. Tropical fruit

Tropical fruits such as papaya, pineapple and mango have a high water content, which can help keep skin hydrated and replenished. A high level of Vitamin C found in these fruits helps repair skin cells and also increases collagen production, making your skin firm and smooth. Delicious!

So there it is - snacks can make a big difference to your skin’s health! Here at Skin Woof we know that the beautiful skin starts from within. Swapping unhealthy snacks, such as crisps, for something more nutritious (and still delicious!) will help your skin stay nourished, radiant and beautiful.
